aggressively dating lucien for 50 days

yeah who'da thought this girl would've concentrated the better part of her day trying to woo a digital guy?

today i wore el's phone batt out playing this game she downloaded into her phone... what was the game called again let's see... was it virtual boyfriend?? i think so. anyway the object of the game is to try to get this guy to like you (aka "will you be my girlfriend?") before he takes off for some country or other to study. sydney, wazzit?
anyway the thing was that after playing for some "20" odd days i was getting a bit tired of showering this guy with incessant gifts... heck they cost so much and this guy aint even that appreciative! he's so full of himself... all he talks about are his hobbies (volleyball, used to be rugby) and what sort of clothes (by the designer Inertia-whatever-the-heck-that-is) he likes. hrm. ariel (the girl you're supposed to "be" or to "help her out") was soooo obsessed with him that everyday starts out with your energy bar rejuvenated and then the caption goes: ariel sleeps and dreams of lucien. can you imagine? for 50 STRAIGHT days! hahahaa...

the hilarious part was that after awhile elle and i started talking about lucien like he was a REAL person... how pathetically sad our lives are.... anyway i reiterate that i'll never do such a thing in real life... aggressively go after some guy who's so full of himself. haha... ariel even had to do tons of freelance modelling and gym clerking to earn enough money to pay for his chocs, teddy bears, clothes and coats... heck whatta chauvinist was this that devised the game!
anyhow, i "snagged the guy" in the end. too bad things aren't quite so simple in life... for one, i'll never ever earn big bucks modelling o_O, plus my parents would totally STOP me from parading around in a bikini to go to school (yes folks i actually "dress up ariel" to walk around in her bikini to do her daily shopping, working and wooing).. haha.. in the end it was the typical korean drama ending (which surprisingly i have stereotyped despite myself having NEVER watched a single korean episode let alone the whole serial)... before he takes off he asks her to be his girlfriend... like HELLO!!! *waves hand in front of ariel's starstruck face* can't you see he's hoarded all his chocs and teddies to give away to hot girls in sydney? he'll brand you and leave you stranded thinking you've got him but really, poor misguided girl, this lad's been using you all the while!

sigh. oh well now nobody can say i've never dated a guy so single-mindedly before. i've virtually done it!

the final verdict: i have a brain! and it's perfectly normal.

one of the things to thank God for this week. haha this morning i underwent an MRI (that's Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a remote corner of my brain throws up the words to that posh-sounding acronym) scan, yes I could say it was all for the purpose of furthering the research in the quest for better treatment in Singapore but I'd be lying, i was partially there for the monetary incentive ;P. well the first thing they did was to make sure there wasn't any metal on me (and me paranoid mom actually took out my purple extensions for me one by one cos' she was scairt there be metal in em' so now i've a head of completely natural hair), then i went to lie down on those bed things that slide into a circular dome-like machine... ah i'm sure we've all seen that sort of machine before, right? it's the same one that guy who "attracted" lana lang on smallville a few weeks back got his power from when he short-circuited the whole thing...haha.

i didn't like the "bite the mouthpiece" part where they put this "cage-like" helmet over my face when i was lying down.. this mouthpiece was actually a piece of clear plastic on which they put this putty-like plasticine material which hardened after i sank my upper set of teeth into it... yeah which made for a bit of a stiff neck after i finally got out of the thing. yeah i found it quite funny that they asked me which radio station i wanted though... haha i requested for class 95 (wow talk about free advertising) and kylie minogue's on a night like this came BLASTING on which i thought was hugely hilarious because these two nerd guys were obviously not the sort to listen to this kinda music, ya know what i mean? and i couldn't even move, so the bopping tunes (i remember the second song was the "heeeeeeey, heeeey baby! hoo ha! i wanna knoooooooow if you'll be my girl!) didn't help my stability much.

yeah so anyway they switched off the music, and then flashed pictures of animals, birds, inanimate objects against landscape scenery via a mirror attached on the inner part of the "cage-like helmet". after awhile i must admit i was getting sleepy. duh you all know my sleeping habits ja. the last 15 minutes were spent calibrating (i think it was a full, detailed scan of everything in my brain), and i think i quite fell asleep cos' it was quite comfortable despite the mouthpiece... i mean they even put a woolly blanket over me and everything! haha so yeah, that plus the soothing music (well it was nelly furtado's try and clay aiken's solitaire which i don't quite like but aaaanyway, among other songs) really sent me off to dreamland... good thing some part of my brain was aware of being photographed and i woke in time to hear them tell me everything was over! yippee!

and then they showed me my brain. for real! the whole picture thing. when the guy moved his cursor over the images taken rapidly over seconds i could see my eyelids open and shut while i blinked! it was freaky to the max.. haha but he told me i had no tumours (yeah which is one more good thing that came out of this) and showed me some areas of the brain that's associated with memory and face-recognition and stuff. so yeah. that was it!

yeah then for the rest of that day i went out with yanny... we managed to get my bank errands done and to get my new journal at bookbinders (seriously, let me be the owner of such a shop and i'll be blissful forever), as well as borrow four tapes/dvds from esplanade library! we watched strictly ballroom (go off on dreamy tangent here about ugly ducklings who can actually score cute guys) and the first movie to include speech ever, the jazz singer. i admit the lack of speech (only 280 words spoken, blink and you'll miss it!) quite sent me off to sleep (again) but ah well. i am enlightened, once again. hopefully this makes me score for film history next sem.

ok that's enough trash from me for now. shall sign off here. till then, drop comments and i'll respond. don't, and i won't.

apparently blogspot users are given a chance to use gmail. which has 1000MB worth of space.
whooopee.... so if anyone has huuuuuge mails to send to moi, please send them to:

juice.susceptible@gmail.com

and please note the change of the underscore sign to a full-stop.

if you don't know what the underscore sign is, all i can say is DON'T send me any emails.
and whatever the media says about being spied on and tracked for my shopping habits, all i can say is heck, i study this sort of phenomena, and i KNOW this sort of thing happens everywhere. so long as you have a mobile phone, or a bank account, or an email address, you're being tracked. so why bother to stress yourself out?

go with the flow, dudes. this earth is only a pitstop, anyway.

the weather is so blasted hot even my toes are sweating
my brains are slowly frying and i found myself asleep on my chair
head tilted over the backrest in an extremely uncomfortable position
but this dratted heat is so darn oppressive
that i spend most of my time either falling asleep or complaining about studying

why why why? during the exam period.... ah whatever. i'll get through this.

just don't provoke me.

ok so that weather report was bogus. no matter. don't think anyone took it seriously anyway.

exams are coming round the corner and i think it's due to the fact that i'm not taking my weekly dose of chicken essence and vitamins that i'm becoming more and more sleepy (yes even MORE than usual) and more and more irked and frustrated over the littlest things. so pardonnez-moi if one day i happen to grate on your nerves. everyone needs an outlet sometime. and i generally slug it out on good friends so you can interpret that whatever way you wish.

right now i'm dosing on cookies in subway... thank goodness i didn't have a run-in with any sort of "i-like-to-make-strangers-miserable" person when i took the "illegal" shuttle just now. seriously, taking the bus nowadays is a daily risk. yesterday i met tanya for a good 'sharing session'... haha which ends up into "don't you dare tell anyone" on both sides... yesh well we ALL have secrets don't we. yeah and tans if you see this... don't you dare tell anyone haha and i'll do the same for you. hrm though there's actually really nobody to tell anymore. also. yesterday i was on a sort of whim.... got violet extensions. just three, mind you. i'm not going all crazy bombastic. then again there's the fact that i'm running seriously low on funds.

this week's officially presentation-preparation week... working on an adaptation of richard the third which is kinda turning into a pastiche of cruel intentions and moulin rouge... at least it seems so in my imagination. now i know how difficult it is to come up with a viable screenplay, a feasible pitch that will be able to appeal to mass audiences. in fact, i think our film is probably going to be understood by the Shakespeare-educated person. horrors. for the literature presentation though, i'm doing postmodernity (again! remember the lesson in DG discussion... erm then again perhaps only yanny will know what i'm talking about because only she reads my blog..) but based on the movie 'she's all that'.. quite confusing if you ask me. and this week there's french oral exam and one more final french test before the school year officially ends. it's amazing how time has flown. i must must start burning the midnight oil. actually my circadian clock is out of whack. i sleep at three and wake at eleven these days. my head always nods off during sermon.. how embarrassing! sigh... and i really really can't help it. can someone give me some miracle drug (caffeine doesn't work) that won't stain my teeth and will keep me awake and alert for hours?

oh, and i've decided to try and get rid of those annoying pop-ups.

let the rains begin again

weather report: wear yer watertight booties to school. hehe

the past few days have been a blur... i must say the sleepover we all had on friday night was tres fantastique
but i was utterly tired out and i didn't expect me parents to wanna go on a shopping sprint after lunch
as a result i only had half an hour before my edith piaf concert at alliance francaise.

orchard park suites is pretty nice. i think i might want to rent me a maisonette kinda room if i ever manage to be that rich so much so that i can actually afford to throw that much money away. but seriously, i just love 24-hour fresh aircon and there's nothing in the guise of strenuous work to do. now that sounded a trifle weird. never mind. i'm just the future independent tai-tai type. so sue me.

i figure i'd better do something in the way of educating the masses while i'm writing this pretty pointless blog entry.. something like public service television (university education's gotten something through to me at least!), where anyone can aimlessly stumble across my webbielog and learn something. apart from my whims and fancies (hrmmm what do i want now? nothing much. just help me zoom past these days quickly till after the 20th of april...).. so here's what i learnt at alliance on saturday afternoon... through blocked up ears and sleep-lidded eyes...

Edith Piaf was Paris's most famous singer ever.. born in rue de Belleville (if you're wondering why i included that, it's because i STAYED in rue de Belleville during the length of time i was in Paris last year... how exciting heh) on December 19, 1915. Starting out as a street performer, she eventually became world famous, even earning a 7 minute standing ovation at Carnegie Hall! (at least, that's what Hossan Leong said during the concert.)She penned the lyrics and music to the song La Vie en Rose, which has been sung by the likes of Celine Dion, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti... and i never knew about this French singer till yesterday. some people might gasp, but tis' true. ah well. now you can't say you've never heard about Edith Piaf. actually some of her songs sound pretty familiar, but maybe if it was translated into English i'd understand the lyrics better. all i know is, the songs really managed to capture the feeling that's Paris, unmistakable and unexplainable, but if you'd been there before, you'd know what i mean.

it's time for another foodie scoop from me again. the last time i did a mockery of this marche-wannabe place at china square central, remember?
well this time there's a hot new (no actually it's a pretty cool place haha punny) cafe at the upgraded Orchard Point
the one that used to house Spotlight. well they've revamped the whole place.
on the third floor's an eatery-cum-display-outlet for all the budding new clothes designers...
it's called hemispheres.. think designer without the pricey price tags cos' basically these people need time to make a name for themselves. yup and i had this $5.90 ciabatta tuna sandwich... had nachos and a small side salad. not bad.
expect to pay about $10 for a full meal and bring hard cash, cos' their card system aint up yet.
and the ambience is designer fantastic.... they've put cement tiles and pebbles a la stone garden style on the floor
plus the art deco posters on the wall (coupled with the smack any o how magazine pics technique) are quite cool
oh and it overlooks the street.... the overall look is artsy minimalist... the seats are, well, just go see it for yourself.
and remember, you heard it here first. cafe voyeur o_O

didn't have time to explore the menu further... i was in a rush with my mom and on the way to Orchard Point
a lady fainted smack on the floor at Centrepoint.... so scary and her three kids were bawling from shock
me mom came to the rescue with what else but Axe Oil. haha.... and tons of Singaporeans (plus one beefy but short Eurasian guy) rallied to her... massaged her head la, call cab la... et cetera. quite frightening for the lady who looked really dazed though when she came around thanks to my mom's axe oil application.. and she insisted she wasn't pregnant though my mom thinks she is. so everyone out there, *wags finger* eat well else you'll faint....
